DATAX is a vendor of consulting services and software solutions for mobile communication industry. As coordinator of the GreenNets, DATAX is responsible for all administrative and financial matters related to the project management. Furthermore, DATAX supplies his own RANOOK platform for the integration of the optimization engines to be developed within GreenNets. DATAX also leads WP2 activities, where it is responsible for the specification of the technical requirements of the targeted GreenNets products.

 

atesio, Berlin, Germany

atesio specializes in high-performance analysis and optimization engines for high-quality and cost-efficient telecommunication networks based on mathematical modeling and optimization. For the GreenNets, atesio provides access to NGPS for the integration of the optimization engines to be developed. Furthermore, atesio leads WP7 activities, which deal with the implementation of the optimization engines and their integration on the target platforms.

 

BENCO, Vilnius, Lithuania

Main areas of BENCO’s activity are telecommunication and smart metering solutions for energy efficiency. In the GreenNets, BENCO provides tools on energy efficiency assessment in mobile networks that will be further extended with novel algorithms and methods to upgrade them into benchmarking tools that will allow to measure precisely the energy consumption of mobile networks and eventually into forecasting tools that will allow to predict energy consumption in future networks deployments. Furthermore, BENCO leads WP8 on validation, evaluation and exploitation activities.

 

Research and technical development RTDs 

The Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute, Fraunhofer HHI, Berlin, Germany

The Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute (FhG-HHI) was founded in 1928 and is located in Berlin, Germany. Its mission is to develop the principles of information technology and to demonstrate new applications for new products in partnership with the industry. Within this institute, the group involved in the GreenNets carries out cutting edge research on future generations of communication networks.

The Fraunhofer HHI is the leading RTD performer in the GreenNets and leader of WP4-WP6 (foundations of energy efficient radio network designs, energy aware intra-RAT optimization, energy aware inter-RAT optimization) delivering algorithms and solutions for the intra-RAT and inter-RAT optimization engines for energy efficiency in mobile networks. HHI is also developing solutions for information theoretic analysis that will be used for benchmarking and forecasting of energy consumption in future network deployments.

Technische Universitaet Braunschweig, Braunschweig, Germany

The Department of Mobile Radio Systems deals with modelling and simulation of mobile radio systems. The focus lies on the development of realistic system simulation scenarios, modelling of the energy consumption of network elements and system-level simulations to analyse the energy consumption of different mobile communication systems.

TUBS, being one of the RTD performers in the GreenNets, leads WP3 activities on energy aware modeling of cellular networks. TUBS participates also to WP4 on foundations of energy efficient radio network designs. TUBS contributes mainly to the development of models for energy consumption, statistical user behaviour, models for load distribution and the development of a system level simulator.

University of Wrocław, Wrocław, Poland

The University of Wroclaw was founded in 1702. It is divided into 10 departments, including the Institute of Computer Science (ICS), which is involved in the GreenNets.   Two groups of ICS are primarily involved in GreenNets: the Group of Computational Complexity and Analysis of Algorithms and the Group of Programming Methods.

The University of Wroclaw, being one of the RTD performers in the project, plays a major role in WP 7 (implementation and integration) with computationally robust implementation and integration of the GreenNets algorithms and optimization engines on the
targeted software platforms, NGPS and RANOOK. We contribute excellent skills in designing efficient algorithms and integrating them into the system.
